A large Multi-disciplinary Civil, Structural and Geo-technical engineering practice with offices across the UK are looking for chartered or near chartered engineers with proven design ability up to Principal level to join their Birmingham office. Applicants should have been similarly employed in the UK for at least the last 12 months and have a comprehensive design background. They should be familiar with design in most commonly used materials; steel, concrete, masonry, timber. Bridge design and/or temporary works design experience, particularly in a rail environment, would be an advantage but not essential. Applicants at Principal level should have bridge design experience. The successful candidates will be joining a group of approximately 30 engineers and technicians initially. He/she will have a varied workload, working within or leading design teams on projects with up to £5M typical contract values initially, or larger projects for individuals with greater experience. Work will involve close liaison with contractors ensuring the buildability of designs. The positions offer the opportunity for further career development leading to possible Director/Partner position in due course within the expanding organisation and proven ability will be duly recognised. Senior Chartered Civil/Structural Engineer required to join large Multi-Disciplinary company in their Bristol office. They require an experienced senior civil / structural design engineer to work on major new build nuclear facilities in support of the multi-billion pound UK nuclear decommissioning and clean-up programme. You will work as part of a small, recently established team of civil / structural engineers and technicians based within their existing Bristol Office and supported by their established team of 50 engineers and technicians based at our Warrington Office. The role will involve working within a small team of engineers, either independently or as a team leader depending on the size and nature of the Project. Typically, the work undertaken will be associated with major reinforced concrete and steel structures for Nuclear Installations where the Client requires either the construction of new facilities, the modification of existing facilities, or the design substantiation of structures in support of safety cases. Responsibilities will include:=B7 Undertaking both temporary and permanent works design and the checking of design work produced by others.=B7 Liasing with the customer and where required the customer's stakeholders to ensure that their needs are fully understood and met.=B7 Supervising and co-ordinating the work of others within the design team and work being undertaken by external multi discipline design teams.=B7 Managing the production of calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports.=B7 Providing support and guidance to junior team members. Ideally candidates will be Chartered Engineer (MICE or MIStructE) with experience in the design of reinforced concrete and steelwork structures, especially major structures such as bridges, deep basement etc. Previous experience within the nuclear or other regulated industries would be beneficial but is not essential. CAD work will involve accurate production of technical information for engineers, clients, architects and other third parties. Some travel may be required to support other offices. There will also be some opportunities to support the environmental team.
