A large Multi-disciplinary Civil, Structural and Geo-technical engineering practice with offices across the UK are looking for chartered or near chartered engineers with proven design ability up to Principal level to join their Birmingham office. Applicants should have been similarly employed in the UK for at least the last 12 months and have a comprehensive design background. They should be familiar with design in most commonly used materials; steel, concrete, masonry, timber. Bridge design and/or temporary works design experience, particularly in a rail environment, would be an advantage but not essential. Our client has an existing team of 5 staff based within the client's design offices on site at Ellesmere Port. The ideal candidate should have experience designing in structural steelwork and reinforced concrete. You will need to be able to liaise with the client's design team to obtain layout details, examine and review existing structural arrangements on site and then develop solutions to alter and adapt existing features or introduce new structures within the production plant, typically mezzanine alterations, reinforced concrete pits/trenches, addition of support steelwork to existing roof trusses etc. A good ability to solve technical problems and develop bespoke solutions will be essential.
